Mary Helen Barro has over 40 years’ experience in small business management, electronic and print media, public relations, public affairs and community service benefiting diverse communities throughout the Central Valley and California, the United States as well as Mexico. Mary Helen has also developed funding proposals and grant applications for submittal to government agencies and corporate entities at local, state, national and international levels.
Mary Helen has generated enthusiasm and support for numerous community projects in support of families with limited resources and has worked to expand funding and legislative support for educational programs to improve the quality of education, including support for limited English-speaking students. A daughter of immigrants, Mary Helen is extremely proud of her multi-Latino roots. Her mother was born in Mexico and her father was born in Cuba. Mary Helen is equally fluent in English and Spanish.
